Dr. Sax says some interesting things here. One of them was his statements to parents to assert priorities. This is easier said than done for reasons which everyone is familiar with. There are many more single parent families. Both parents are likely to be working if there are two and to be very busy overall. Many of the parents do not come from Ozzie and Harriet backgrounds themselves, with many having had these children when they were teenagers themselves. And, more directly, many parents, like many human beings, simply aren't that assertive. It doesn't hurt to suggest to parents that they do the things Dr. Sax advocates, but I think the chances of this kind of "parenting revolution" being part of the solution are extremely minimal.
